Korean BBQ Beef Mandu

Korean-style dumplings with a smoky Bulgogi beef filling. This is a classic and flavourful Korean dumpling that brings together a harmonious blend of ingredients. Enjoy with your favourite dipping sauce or add to a noodle bowl.

8 Dumplings | Ready in 7 minutes.

Wrapper: Wheat Flour, Water, Wheat Gluten, Paprika and Salt.

Filling: Beef Mince (38.7%), Onion, Pear Puree, Soy Sauce (Water, Soybean, Salt and Rice), Leek, Spring Onion, Garlic, Ginger, Corn Starch, Seasoning Sauce (Water, Sugar, Soy Sauce (Water, Soy, Salt, Corn Starch), Salt, Modified Corn Starch, Yeast Extract, Plain Caramel, Dried Shiitake), Sesame Oil, Sunflower Oil, Flavouring (Water, Hickory Smoke Flavour, Vinegar, Molasses, Plain Caramel, Salt), Yeast Extract, Cayenne Pepper, Smoked Paprika.

per dumpling: Energy 216 kJ / 52 kcal, Fat 2.4g, of which saturates 0.9g, Carbohydrates 5.1g, of which sugars 1.0g, Protein 2.1g, Fibre 0.4g, Salt 0.3g.

per 100g: Energy 864 kJ / 207 kcal, Fat 2.4g, of which saturates 3.8g, Carbohydrates 20.6g, of which sugars 3.9g, Protein 8.4g, Fibre 1.4g, Salt 1.4g.

Simply steam.

  1. Line a steamer (or a colander/sieve) with baking paper and place over a pan of boiling water on medium heat.
  2. Add the dumplings and cover with a lid. Steam for 7 minutes. Enjoy!

 

Pan-fry and steam

  1. Add 1bsp (15 ml) of oil and 2 tbsp (30 ml) of waterto a non-stick pan. (Layer the pan with baking paper first for the best finish).
  2. Add the dumplings to the pan and heat until the water starts to boil.
  3. Cover with a lid and continue to cook for 3 minutes.
  4. Remove the lid and allow the remaining water to evaporate.
  5. Turn the heat down and continue to fry until the bottoms are golden and crunchy. Enjoy!

 

Air-frying

  1. Add water (approx. 100 ml) into the base of the air fryer.
  2. Pre-heat to 180°C. Spray oil onto the rack before adding dumplings.
    Distribute the dumplings evenly and spray with oil.
  3. Heat for 8 minutes. Enjoy!

 

Suitable to cook directly from frozen, just add an extra minute according to the cooking instructions to make sure it’s piping hot before serving. Do not re-heat once cooked.

Mandu is the name for the family of dumplings in Korean cuisine and can comprise a huge range of different types and preparation methods; they're very thin wheat wrappers filled with various ingredients such as meat, shrimp, vegetables, and kimchi.

Our favourite Autumn salad 🍁🍂🥟

Chopped with all the goodness from autumn harvest + a twist with Love Sum’s Hoisin Duck Dumplings🥢

Why not give it a try? Recipe below!

Ingredients -
1/2 butternut squash, peeled and cubed
1 block of halloumi, cubed
250g queen chickpeas
Love Sum hoisin duck dumplings
100g red cabbage, sliced
1 medium carrot, grated
50g pecans, roughly chopped
50g cranberries
30g pumpkin seeds
Chopped herbs for garnish

Dressing
2 tbsp rice wine vinegar
2 tbsp soy sauce
1 tbsp hot honey (or regular honey)

Preheat the oven to 200C and line a baking tray with greaseproof paper
Sprinkle the butternut squash and chickpeas with seasoning and a little olive oil, and roast for 20 minutes
Remove the tray from the oven and turn the oven down to 180C
Toss the halloumi through the squash and chickpeas, and top with the dumplings. Brush the dumplings with a little oil and return the tray to the oven for 15 minutes
Prep the rest of the ingredients ready to assemble the salad
Once the baking tray components are golden and crisp, remove and leave to cool before transferring to a bowl with the other ingredients
If you wish, stir some salad leaves through the mix before serving (spinach, rocket, watercress). Sprinkle with chopped fresh herbs
